Mark Fetsko Announces FHL Retirement
Mark Fetsko, a member of last years FHL Championship Bishop Boyle Lancers, has officially announced his retirement, as of last night.
Fetsko, a three time FHL Champion, has 56 career points in the FHL.
He started his career during the waiver draft of the 2007-08 season, where he was picked up by the Jets. He scored 11 goals, added 21 assists.
He was picked by the Jets 9th overall in the 2008 FHL Draft, and finished that season with 6 goals and 8 assists.
The next year, the Moose picked him 2nd overall in the 2009 FHL Draft. He then was a part of the blockbuster deal that sent him to Bishop Boyle and Nick Siniawski and Dustin Hess to the Moose. Fetsko scored 4 goals and 6 assists to go along with his big time playoff performance for the Lancers.

2010-11 Franchise Preview - Moose
The Moose had a very impressive first season in the FHL. Captain Zack "Uncle Z" Siniawski led them to a 13-9 record, tying for first in the league. The trade of Mark Fetsko to Boyle for Dustin Hess and Nick Siniawski looked genius during the regular season, but came back to haunt them in the second round of the playoffs, as the Champion Lancers defeated the Moose.
The Moose have a lot of talent. Last year, Jeff Pingor's breakout season of 31 goals was good for second in the league. Also, Jeff Rogers put in 18 goals and 27 assists, 3rd in the league in scoring, to go along with his defensive player of the year from two years ago. Outside of those two players, even Nick Siniawski is a solid option for franchising. It is a pretty tough decision for Zack Siniawski.
Prediction: The Moose will stick with last year's franchise pick, Jeff Rogers. Look for N. Siniawski at pick 6 or 7 for the Moose, and Pingor could go anywhere in the first two rounds.
2010-11 Franchise Preview - Pirates
The Pirates came into last season with high hopes. After losing the 2009 FHL Championship to the Jets, the Buccos brought back most of their team. A disappointing year held the pirates to a 9-10 record, and a loss in the first round of the playoff to eventual champions Bishop Boyle.
Captain Andrew McDonald has been playing alongside Tony Bonacorso since McDonald took over the team before the 08-09 Season. Bonacorso had a down year for his standards, scoring only 12 goals and adding 13 assists. Ryan Cleary's 17 goals and 19 assists have put him in the picture to remain on the Pirates for next season, and Matt Wierchowski, also a former #1 pick, has the talent to be franchised. But, Bonacorso's MVP Performance in FHL's summer charity tournament may have secured him as a Pirate for another year.
Prediction: The Pirates franchise Tony Bonacorso. Ryan Cleary and Matt Wierchowski are both top two round picks, easily.
2010-11 Franchise Preview - Crosby's
Commissioner John George had his Crosby's flying high during the regular season last year. The tight knit group finished third in the league with an 11-8 record, but were disappointed by the Kings in the playoffs. It looks like George is down to two players to announce for his franchise pick.
Roy McDonald and Buddy Doyle, arguably two of the best at what they do. McDonald is a scorer, 27 goals last season without a consistent line mate. Doyle, a true two way defensemen who can score at any time, make the pass, or defend against anyone in the league. Doyle scored 8 goals and had 13 assists in limited action last year. Both players are all-star caliber players. Whichever way George decides, it'll be a smart decision.
Prediction: The Crosby's will franchise Roy McDonald for the second straight year, and Buddy Doyle will be a top 5 pick in the upcoming draft.
2010-11 Franchise Preview - Kings
Last years biggest regular season disappointment, the Kings, led by Jamie Zelena, look to start fresh this year. Although the Kings won only five games during the regular season, they pulled off a huge upset with a win vs. the Crosby's in the playoffs.
Zelena has a few players on his radar for his decision on who to franchise. Thomas Sheetz, Ben Bobick, Ryan Stottlemeyer, and Joe Sims all contributed a good regular season with exceptional playoff performances. The front runner may be Sheetz, who scored 15 goals in his first year in the FHL. Stottlemeyer and Sims combined for 17 goals and and 14 assists, mostly playing on the same line. Bobick had 4 goals, 5 assists in limited regular season time, but excelled vs. the Crosby's, scoring two goals to help with the win.
Prediction: The Kings will franchise Tom Sheetz. Ben Bobick, Ryan Stottlemeyer, and Joe Sims will all be above average contributors on teams during the upcoming season.
2010-11 Franchise Preview - Boyle
The 2009-10 FHL Champions were the Bishop Boyle Lancers. Captain Brian Grise has a tough decision on who to franchise. They were the best team last year, with the likes of the Fetsko's, Tom and Mark, leading them to a historic season.
Grise has to decide which Fetsko to franchise. Mark, statistically didn't have a great year, with 4 goals and 6 assists. Tom had 3 goals and 17 assists, and was one of the league's best defensemen.
Prediction: The Lancers will franchise Tom Fetsko, but expect them to look for Tom's brother Mark with the #2 pick if he's available.
2010-11 Franchise Preview - Jets
Last year's runner-up, the Jets, are the first team we look at for the franchise previews. Captain Zak Campbell had one of his least productive seasons last year due to absence. Despite being without their captain for most of the season, the Jets still finished atop of the league.
Brian Barca has been Campbell's franchise player for each of the last two seasons, and we fully expect it to be a third straight year. Barca led the league with 41 goals and 56 points last season, and won the league's MVP Award. If Campbell decides to take the Jets organization elsewhere, Jason Kortz and Jason Tatrai may be two solid options to look at. Kortz was the Jets secondary scorer all year, scoring 15 goals and 13 assists. Tatrai was one of the league's top defensemen. With towering size and great strength, Tatrai scored 12 goals and had 18 assists.
Prediction: The Jets will franchise Brian Barca, but look for both Jason's (Tatrai and Kortz) to be drafted very high on November 6th.
