Post-Gazette on FHL Charity Tournament
All were winners at the Franklin Hockey League's second annual charity hockey tournament earlier this month in Munhall. But the biggest winner of all was the Mario Lemieux Foundation.
What started out as a casual pickup street hockey game between friends has evolved into quite the community league -- and now charities such as the Lemieux Foundation are the beneficiaries.
The Franklin Hockey League -- so-named because its games are contested in the parking lot of the Franklin Primary School adjacent to Steel Valley High School -- has grown to include more than 100 players.
Many of those players participated in the charity tournament July 31-Aug. 1 in which, for the second consecutive year, more than $500 was raised for the Lemieux Foundation."
