2009-10 FHL Preview - Captains

Brian GriseCareer: 43G 20A 63P
Brian Grise has been the Bishop Boyle captain since the league began, serving as the face of the franchise. Grise has led the Lancers to a 17-19 career record. The 12th all time in points in FHL history is very confident in his team and has high expectations this year. Grise has commitment issues with baseball, but like his teammates, is never a guarantee to be sober on Saturday mornings when he leads Bishop Boyle to the ice.
John GeorgeCareer: 15G 9A 24P
John George, also the Commissioner of the FHL, has led the Crosby’s to a 16-20 all-time record in the last two seasons. George also led the Crosby’s to win the first ever FHL Championship back in the 2006-07 season, before stats were kept. The gritty defensive defenseman has a good team on hand, and needs to continue to be one of the premier defenseman in the league if the Crosby’s expect to contend for another title.
Zak CampbellCareer: 54G 25A 79P
The Jets have the best record in the past two seasons by far, and Campbell is a huge reason why. The 20-7 record has been rewarded with two consecutive FHL Championships. Campbell, though, may face one of his toughest tasks yet, as the first four picks in the 2009 Draft were former Jets. Can the Jets continue their dominance with very few familiar faces? Campbell will have to continue his dominance as one of the league’s best two way players to do so.
Jamie ZelenaCareer: 3G 7A 10P
Jamie Zelena enters his second season with the reputation as a captain who will trade anyone at any time. Last year, the Kings went 8-9, and Zelena made four trades last year, and none stunned the FHL more than the acquisition of the league’s all time leader in points, Chad Kanz. Zelena has already rolled the dice on a post-draft trade, and we all expect more. As a player, the guy’s motive is strictly defense, and has improved every season. The Kings lost Kanz last year, but had a good draft, and are expecting to make a run this season.
Zack SiniawskiCareer: 21G 24A 45P
Zack Siniawski enters his first year as a FHL captain with one goal in mind – a championship. Siniawski franchised Jeff Rogers, and then had a great draft which consisted of Mark Fetsko, Jeff Pingor, Gabe Gerson, as well as many others. This guy seems to know what he’s doing. Siniawski will have to emerge as one of the league’s top goal scorers to lead the Moose to the Promised Land. Uncle Z has a certain swagger about him when he steps on the pond, and looks to make his teammates around him better with his puck handling and passing ability.
Andrew McDonaldCareer: 51G 41A 92P
Andrew McDonald helped his squad to a 7-10 record into the FHL Championship last season due to not only his play, but his managerial moves. A last-minute deadline deal sent Jeff Rogers to the Hawks for three players, who contributed valued minutes for the Pirates during the playoff run. Another GM who isn’t afraid to make a trade, McDonald needs to become a secondary scorer behind Bonacorso for the Pirates to accomplish their goal of being back in the Championship game this season.
