Chad Kanz Announces Retirement

The Franklin Hockey League’s current all time leader in Goals (95) and Points (138), Chad Kanz, has officially announced his retirement. Kanz was expected to have commitment issues, due to the birth of his daughter, and other reasons. Here a brief timeline of the career of Chad Kanz:
  • Before the 2007-08 season, Hawks Captain Matt Gori decides that he will Franchise Kanz.
  • During the 2007-08 season, Kanz scored a FHL record 60 goals and recorded a FHL record 84 points.
  • Kanz was named the 2007-08 FHL MVP.
  • Hawks name Kanz their Franchise player for the 2008-09 season.
  • On January 10th, 2009, the Hawks completed a trade that sent Kanz, along with Justin Gardner, to the Kings for Drew Hruska, Jeff Pingor, and Mark Zelena.
  • During his first game as a King, on January 24th, 2009, Kanz scored 3 Goals, and added 2 Assists against the Crosby’s, recording his 100th career point in the process.
  • Kanz finished the 2008-09 season 2nd in the league in goals (36) and points (54).
  • Kanz is a two-time FHL All Star.
  • Kanz finishes his career as the FHL All Time Leader in Goals, with 95, and Points, with 138.
Chad Kanz has issued a statement concerning his retirement: “I would like to thank the Hawks and Kings GM’s for giving me my opportunity to play in the FHL. I would of liked to win a Championship, but I no longer feel that I am able to play at the highest level I am used to.“
