2009-10 Franchise Preview: Kings (New Logo, New Colors)

As you know, the Kings have decided to change colors from Purple to Black. Today, they revealed their new logo for the upcoming season:

As for the franchise selection, the Kings have to wait for their superstar to decide their fate in the upcoming season. FHL's all time leader in goals and points, Chad Kanz, is deciding whether or not he should retire. Kanz was traded by the Hawks to the Kings last year, and he helped the Kings to a 8-9 record. If Kanz comes back, the Kings have an easy decision for a franchise player. If not, they have to go through the same process with Bill Seaman. Will he come back? If neither decide they will return for another season in the league, GM Jamie Zelena has a tough decision on his hand. Will he go with Adam Cristallini, or possibly another player? OUR PICK

Chad Kanz: 08-09: 35 Goals, 19 Assists, 54 Points (Career: 95 Goals, 43 Assists, 138 Points OTHER OPTIONS

Bill Seaman: 08-09: 3 Goals, 12 Assists, 15 Points (Career: 16 Goals, 29 Assists, 45 Points) Adam Cristallini: 08-09: 20 Goals, 14 Assists, 34 Points (Career: 22 Goals, 20 Assists, 42 Points)

2009-10 Franchise Preview: Bishop Boyle

Up next is the Bishop Boyle Lancers. Last year, GM Brian Grise franchised Dustin Hess, and decided to trade the house for the number one pick, who ended up being Jeff Rogers. As the season went on, Boyle traded Jeff Rogers and picked up the Siniawski's. The Lancers seem to be in a tight spot, with a few possible franchise selections. Although Zack Siniawski left the squad to start his own team, Grise still has a selection from Nick Siniawski or Dustin Hess. Both of these players would be a great choice, fitting into the style of play of Boyle. Do they take the under-achieving (5 Goals, 5 Assists) Dustin Hess and give him another shot? Do they go with Nick Siniawski(14 Goals, 12 Assists)? Whoever they pick, expect the other to go either #1, #2, or get snagged up by Bishop Boyle at #3 in the upcoming FHL Draft. OUR PICK

Nick Siniawski: 08-09: 14 Goals, 12 Assists, 26 Points (Career: 29 Goals, 34 Assists, 63 Points OTHER OPTIONS

Dustin Hess: 08-09: 5 Goals, 5 Assists, 10 Points (Career: 31 Goals, 20 Assists, 51Points)

2009-10 Franchise Preview: Crosby's

Up next is the Crosby's. Last year, next to the Jets, the Crosby's were the only team who had a winning record, at 9-8. This is thanks to the highly-talented first line of Roy McDonald and Matt Wierchowski, combined with the defense of Buddy Doyle, and other players on the team. It looks like the Crosby's have a tough choice in a franchise pick, with both their first round pick Wierchowski, and second round pick, McDonald. GM John George has a tough decision on his hands. But, he should franchise McDonald, who is fifth all time in FHL History with 50 Goals. One team will be lucky to pick franchise caliber player Wierchowski in the first round. OUR PICK

Roy McDonald: 08-09: 36 Goals, 15 Assists, 51 Points (Career: 50 Goals, 25 Assists, 75 Points OTHER OPTIONS

Matt Wierchowski: 08-09: 13 Goals, 23 Assists, 36 Points (Career: 26 Goals, 41 Assists, 67 Points) Buddy Doyle: 08-09: 11 Goals, 9 Assists, 20 Points (Career: 22 Goals, 21 Assists, 43 Points)

2009-10 Franchise Preview: Pirates

Next on the list is the Pirates. Last year, they flirted with last place throughout the entire season, before GM Andrew McDonald made a trade at the deadline. From there, the Pirates won six of their next seven, putting themselves in the Championship Game. Although they lost to the Jets, they had a successful first season in the FHL. The team is led by Tony Bonacorso, and he seems like the popular choice to be franchised by the Bucs. Bonacorso finished the season wtih 28 goals and 21 assists in his first year in the league. Aside from Bonacorso, the Pirates have a number of talented players, including Brian Hreha, Drew Hruska, Ryan Cleary, Joe Rogers, and Shane Lucas. Any of these players are looking like they will be entering the 2009 FHL Draft. OUR PICK

Tony Bonacorso: 08-09: 28 Goals, 21 Assists, 49 Points (Career: 28 Goals, 21 Assists, 49 Points OTHER OPTIONS

Brian Hreha: 08-09: 9 Goals, 12 Assists, 21 Points (Career: 17 Goals, 18 Assists, 35 Points) Drew Hruska: 08-09: 18 Goals, 19 Assists, 37 Points (Career: 49 Goals, 28 Assists, 77 Points)

2009-10 Franchise Preview: Jets

As you all know, the date for franchise players to be announced by each team’s GM is just around the corner. On October 25th, each team will name their franchise player for the 2009-10 season. Over the next few days, we will look, team by team, to see who should be franchised. - - - - -

First, we’ll look at the Jets. Last year, they finished in first place with a 13-4 record, outscoring opponents 104-61. The winners of the last two FHL Championships had a roster filled with talent. Many would- think that it would be a tough decision for Zak Campbell, right? Wrong. The Jets have Brian Barca, the reigning FHL MVP, who scored 35 goals and added 31 assists for a league leading 66 points last year. The Jets also have a number of talented players who should be entering the draft. Mark Fetsko, Tom Fetsko, and Zack Wahal are all first round-type talent in the FHL. OUR PICK

Brian Barca: 08-09: 31 Goals, 35 Assists, 66 Points (Career: 66 Goals, 51 Assists, 117 Points OTHER OPTIONS

Mark Fetsko: 08-09: 6 Goals, 9 Assists, 15 Points (Career: 17 Goals, 29 Assists, 46 Points) Tom Fetsko: 08-09: 6 Goals, 8 Assists, 14Points (Career: 8 Goals, 12 Assists, 20 Points)
