Week Thirteen: Game Recaps
The 12:30 game may have been the best series of the year, with the 6-6 Crosby’s battling the 3-9 Pirates. The Crosby’s and Pirates went back and forth, goal after goal. The Pirates took Game One as Ryan Cleary buried the first and only goal. Game Two went into Overtime as a 1-1 tie with Tony Bonacorso and Matt Wierchowski each scoring goals. Roy McDonald tied the series up for Crosby’s with a goal in OT. Game Three was won in Overtime, 2-1, by Pirates’ captain Andrew McDonald. The Crosby’s took Game Four 4-2, thanks to 2 Goals by Roy McDonald and 1 Goal, 2 Assists by Matt Wierchowski. This set up a Game Five, which not only went into Overtime, but into a shootout. Each teams first three players missed on their attempts, but Ryan Cleary put one past Dave Kwolek for the Pirates to defeat the Crosby’s in the series. Also, goalie Craig Hixon won all five games of this series.
Stats: Matt Wierchowski: 2 Goals, 4 Assists; Tony Bonacorso: 1 Goal, 3 Assists.

With Bishop Boyle down their captain, Brian Grise, along with Zak Siniawski and Dustin Hess, this week’s match-up vs. the Kings didn’t seem too promising. The Kings and Boyle were both entering the week tied with a 6-6 record. The winner of this game was guaranteed the second spot in the standings for this week. The loser was tied with the Hawks and Crosby’s for third. Game one was the story of the game for the Kings, as Chad Kanz scored not one, not two, but three goals, leading to a 3-1 victory for the men in purple. Game Two saw much of the same, as Jay Haddad and Adam Cristallini gave the Kings a 2-0 Victory. It looked like a sweep for the Kings, but Nick Siniawski gave Boyle some hope as he netted a goal in the final minutes of Game Three, taking the series to a Game Four. But it was too little, too late for the Lancers, as Chad Kanz scored again, giving the Kings the win and more importantly sole possession of the #2 spot in the standings.
Stats; Chad Kanz: 4 Goals, 1 Assist; Gabe Gerson: 1 Goal, 1 Assist.
