Interview with Crosby's 2nd Round Pick, Roy McDonald IV
Joe Rogers here once again, with the third part of six interviews with members of each FHL squad.
We're here with the Crosby's second round pick Roy McDonald IV. Roy, what do you think of the Crosby's chances this season?
I think we have a pretty good chance to surprise some people this year. We have a lot of grit and are sound defensively, and we also have a few people that can put the puck in the net, were a very balanced team that i think has a good chance to win it all.
Prior to the draft John George shocked the FHL world by trading lifetime Crosby Bill Seaman for a 2nd and 5th round pick. These picks were converted into Brian Hreha and Adam Pander. Having known this in advance, do you think the trade netted fair value for a future hall of famer?
I mean you never want to lose a player of the caliber of Seaman, but his health issues are a question mark and we got two quality defensemen to replace him back there.
Describe what it would mean to you to hoist the FHL Cup come May 9th.
It would be an honor. I came into the league last year with the Crosby's and am a Crosby again this year, and I wouldn't want it to be any other way.
Matt Wierchowski is one of the fan favorites of the FHL. What type of an impact do you think Mitch will have on the Crosby organization? He is a great all around player who has grit and knows how to put the puck in the net. I played a couple scrimmages in the off season on his team and I love the way he plays the game. He is a great player and I'm looking forward to playing with him this year.
Overtime. Game 5. Who comes up with the winning goal for the Crosby's?
This is a tough one. If i had to pick one guy though, I would have to say George. I remember in the playoffs last year George really showed why he is our Captain, he really took his game to another level during the playoffs and was a constant threat.
Ok now for some quick predictions. Team to beat outside your organization?
I think the Jets are strong once again this year, coming off a championship season last year. Barca, Campbell, both Fetsko's, Sabo and Wahal is a very strong core, I see them being very strong when everybodys there.
Crosby player to watch?
Buddy Doyle when he is here
FHL Breakthrough Player of the Year?
Bonacorso
One guy you can't stand to play against?
Dan Drane
Defensive Player of the Year?
Jeff Rogers
FHL MVP?
Bonacorso
Thanks for your time Roy. Good luck to you and the Crosby organization this year.
Thanks and same to you.
