GM of the Crosby's and Commissioner John George issued a statement following the trade:
"It was a very difficult decision for us to deal away one of our leaders and arguably the best player in franchise history. It was a move that had to be made for the Crosbys to take the next step in rebuilding a program to a championship caliber team. It was an honor to play along side the classiest player in FHL history and we wish him the greatest of luck with his new team, they are surely getting a true leader."
